Everglades & Area at a Glance
The Florida Everglades is unique to the world. Nowhere else is there an ecosystem
like it. A slow moving river that covers most of south Florida,
the Everglades is home to numerous animal and plant species including both crocodiles
and alligators (the only place in the world where the two co-exist). Big
Cypress National Preserve and Everglades
National Park have been designated here. The latter is not only a national
park, but also an International Biosphere Reserve, a Wetland of International
Importance and a World Heritage Site. Everglades
City is home to the Museum
of the Everglades, featuring history and educational opportunities related
to the park. Tour the Everglades with a guide by flat-bottom boat or jet boat
for a truly remarkable view of the wilds of Florida. Or, take a boat tour of
the Ten Thousand Islands that lie between the mainland and the Florida Keys.
